Today we head to San Francisco, one of California’s most iconic cities, located along the San Francisco Bay. The wider metropolitan area is home to nearly 10 million people. Founded by the Spanish in 1776, the city became part of the United States in 1846. In the early 20th century, San Francisco was nearly destroyed by a devastating earthquake and the fires that followed, but it was rebuilt and transformed. Today, it stands as one of the most beautiful and recognizable cities in the country, known for its stunning views, unique character, and rich history.
